The studio floor is practically drowning in half a terabyte of RAW portraits, and the client wants the finished gallery by tomorrow morning.
You need a storage setup that runs fast enough to handle 4K video editing directly from the drive, yet remains bulletproof against sudden drive failure. Finding the right gear among the Best Raids for Photographers keeps your digital negatives safe from the dreaded corrupted sector.
Let us break down the top options so your precious client files never vanish into the digital ether.
Key Takeaways
- Prioritize hardware RAID over software configurations to save valuable processing power on your workstation.
- Calculate your actual storage needs by multiplying your average annual shoot volume by at least three copies.
- Look for enclosures featuring aluminum chassis construction for better passive heat dissipation during long rendering sessions.
- Check the interface compatibility to ensure the drive supports your computer's fastest available ports.
- Balance redundancy against portability depending on whether you shoot primarily in a studio or on location.
